PakLawAssist, our AI-supported legal technology platform, won first place in the Governance (GovTech) category at Pakistan’s National AI Wrapper Competition 2025.

The competition was hosted by Ignite (National Technology Fund) in partnership with the Ministry of Information Technology & Telecommunication (MoITT). It focused on practical uses of artificial intelligence that address real operational and public-interest challenges.

For the DGTAL & Web Solutions team, the award recognized an idea we care deeply about: technology should make complicated professional workflows clearer, faster, and more accessible without removing the need for responsible human review.

The problem PakLawAssist addresses

Startups and small businesses frequently work with legal documents but may not have an in-house legal team. Founders need employment agreements, non-disclosure agreements, service contracts, corporate documents, and compliance information—often under tight time and budget constraints.

Generic templates do not always reflect a business’s context, while manually reviewing every document can slow down routine work. PakLawAssist is designed to reduce that initial friction by helping users organize information, prepare drafts, and identify clauses that deserve closer attention.

Core areas of the platform

Document drafting

Users can provide relevant details and generate a structured first draft for common business documents. The objective is to replace repetitive formatting and copy-paste work with a guided process that produces a clearer starting point.

Contract review support

PakLawAssist can help surface clauses related to liability, indemnity, termination, payment obligations, confidentiality, and other commercial considerations. Highlighting a provision is not the same as giving a final legal conclusion; it helps a user know where additional attention may be required.

Regulatory and compliance guidance

The platform organizes information around common business and corporate compliance workflows. This can help founders prepare better questions and understand the steps involved before working with the appropriate professional or authority.

Legal documents are high-stakes. An AI-generated draft can contain errors, omit important context, or apply an unsuitable clause. That is why legal technology should be designed around transparency and review rather than presented as a replacement for qualified legal advice.

Good practice includes:

  • Clearly identifying generated or suggested content
  • Allowing users to review and edit every provision
  • Protecting confidential information
  • Explaining limitations and escalation points
  • Encouraging professional review for material transactions or disputes
  • Maintaining the legal source material on which guidance depends

PakLawAssist is intended to assist document and information workflows. Users remain responsible for verifying that an output is suitable for their circumstances and obtaining professional advice where necessary.

What the award means for our team

The GovTech category award validates the practical direction of the product, but it is not the end of the work. Legal and regulatory information changes, user needs evolve, and AI systems require continuous evaluation. The next stage is therefore about improving accuracy, usability, safeguards, and the quality of the review experience.

It also reinforces how DGTAL & Web Solutions approaches product development: begin with a specific workflow problem, build a usable solution, test it with real scenarios, and improve it based on evidence.
